Barsey’s Smokies almonds are great to include in lunches, or as a snack. Perfectly salty, crunchy and a nice protein boost. I sometimes chop them up and add them to chicken salad with apples, spinach and honey-mustard style dressing. Barsey’s are available in bulk if you just want to try a few. — Lori, Front End
Caramelized onion dip from the Deli, spread onto a Rustica baguette (cut into small disks and toasted in the oven), is wonderful. Top it off by adding a sliced grape on top. Sweet and savory, fatty-rich and fresh! — Ian O., Operations
The amazing juustoleipä, or bread cheese, is addictive. We have both goat’s and a cow’s milk versions, depending on your tastes. After heating up this bad boy on the stove (never nuke it), serve it with a few jams as side options. I recommend cherry, blueberry or the local spicy pepper blueberry jam. Warning: you may not want to share. — Claudia, Marketing
I love the Food for Life chocolate tortilla chips with Salsa Lisa’s hot salsa. The chocolate in the tortilla chip isn’t overly sweet, and when combined with a hot salsa, it has a mole flavor. It’s far more exciting than showing up at a party with regular chips and salsa, but just as easy. — Robin, Buyer
Mustard Greens
These are much more versatile than many people think. They're of course good simply steamed, either by themselves, or with turnip greens when they're in season. Cooking takes out the spiciness. When just lightly steamed, mustard greens get a bitterness that's pleasantly offset by a little tamari. They're also tasty added last thing to a stir-fry and allowed to just barely wilt. Raw, mustard greens add a nice zing to a salad, as well as significantly more nutrition than plain old lettuce. And potato salad is great with finely chopped mustard greens and onions, served with a vinaigrette instead of a mayonnaise dressing! — Jack, Produce
Baobab Facial Serum by Alaffia
It has many good vitamins to help moisturize, soothe and repair the face. Now that it’s colder and blustery, the baobab oil is a welcome treat. Alaffia is also a P6 company! — Elizabeth, Wellness
Wild Acres Farm duck fat
Available in our Meat Department. I love cooking with duck fat, because it crisps things perfectly such as potatoes. I have also used it when making crusts for my pies. Duck fat is a secret ingredient used by many chefs; it enhances the flavors of whatever you are cooking. As for health benefits, it is most excellent! Duck fat is equal to butter and olive oil in its health value. — Ali, Scanning
Head Cheese
Comprised of true "old word" ingredients: pork, pork fat, gelatin and savory spices make this one of Seward Co-op's best offerings. Add to a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich from our deli or enjoy simply with a local baguette and good mustard. — Brad, Meat & Seafood
For cold weather...
Vietnamese Turkey Noodle soup from the Deli is warming and healing when you have the sniffles. Hot chai from the juice bar, or the Oregon Chai singles that only require water, and organic oatmeal prepared with apple cider instead of water are other favorites of mine! — Betsy, Admin
Seward Cafe Granola
It is, in my opinion, the best granola we carry by far. On top of this, it is produced with quality local ingredients by one of the few remaining worker collectives in Minneapolis, the Seward Cafe, our old next door neighbors just six blocks down Franklin Ave. — Mike T., Grocery
