In the Coop’s Cheese Department, two things to watch for during the holiday season are sale pricing on some popular holiday cheese and several special holiday cheeses.    

Stilton,
the classic blue from England, is one of those cheeses that surprises
me every time I eat it.  I am always amazed by how great it tastes. 
It's excellent as either part of an appetizer with a big, red wine or a dessert course
with a glass of port.  Stilton is also $1 off per pound through the new
year.  Another great cheese priced at $1 off per pound is Grand Cru Gruyere from Wisconsin’s Roth Kase.  Grand Cru is a great fondue or cooking cheese and is equally great for snacking.  In other words, it is pretty much a perfect holiday cheese.

Among the new cheeses we are stocking for the holidays, the one I am most excited about is Quadrello di Bufala:  it is an Italian cheese that is similar to Taleggio but made with buffalo milk.  It is rich, intense, and very special. 

If it is cranberries you are looking for, we’ve got cranberries.  We have an apple cranberry Boursin, and a mini-wheel of white Stilton with cranberries.  And since nothing says “Happy Holidays” quite like Cranberry Cheddar, we will have plenty of Maple Leaf Coop’s Cranberry Cheddar.
