It's a great time of year to party!
It's a great time of year to party - celebrate the waning days of winter and our strong cooperative culture! Call up a few friends, put on some tunes and swing by the co-op for the best winter get-together foods.
Make a Cheese Plate
One great thing about February is that its bookended by two party days: the Superbowl and the Oscars. Here are five winners for your Academy Awards cheese plate:
• Oliver’s Reserve, new to Seward Co-op, is a raw milk, cellar-aged sheep cheese;
• Carr Valley’s Sweet Vanilla Cardona is a lovely flavored goat cheese;
• In a nod to the Iron Lady, Meryl Streep, England’s classic Stilton;
• Cowgirl Creamery’s Mt. Tam because we love triple creams and this one’s a beauty;
• Lastly, you need to have a piece of Sartori’s Montamore, simply because it belongs at a party!
Seward Co-op Pizza
Deli staff makes the crust, sauce and sausage for our pizzas in house, using many local ingredients representing a number of our featured P6 producers.
Pizza varieties are cheese, garden veggie, pepperoni, sausage, supreme and a rotating specialty. Cook up multiple 'zas for a party or event, or choose one as a centerpiece for your next no-fuss dinner. Enjoy with a salad of local, hydroponically-grown greens from our Produce department and celebrate local wintertime eating.
Local Pizza Ingredients:
| Whole Grain Milling whole wheat flour: local, organic, fresh-ground weekly and delivered directly to the co-op. |
 |
Rochdale Farms cheese: made with milk from small, local dairy farms where many cows are hand-milked and the average herd size is 15-20 cows. Rochdale Farms is available only at co-ops. |
 |
Pastures A Plenty pork: local, small producer, all-natural pasture-raised |
Seward Co-op Chicken Wings
Another party treat from our Deli is fully-cooked local, Kadejan chicken wings in three flavors: buffalo, jerk and teriyaki. Each comes with a dipping sauce; just heat and eat. Find both wings and pizzas in the Deli grab 'n' go cooler.
Guacamole and other Produce Treats
Our staff has been buying ahead and ripening organic avocados in house. Here's a stellar recipe for homemade guacamole.
Though we're far from the tropics, savoring the sweetness, tartness and juiciness of biodynamic citrus makes it feel a bit closer. We keep a multitude of colorful and healthful oranges, grapefruits, mandarins and tangerines in stock through the season. Smaller fruits like mandarins are loved by kids and easy for small hands to peel. And fresh juices from lemons and limes are perfect in celebratory drinks for any age!
