2009 Scorecard - Community

 

We actively support, participate and invest in the communities we serve.

1. We provide education on mission-related topics such as sustainability, health,
co-op philosophy, agricultural and other pertinent issues.
More than 50 initiatives, including:

6 Sprout! member newsletters published annually
2 Seward Co-op-sponsored garden tours
Community-Supported Agriculture Fair with more than 20 producers
29 new-hire trainings
15 Natural food trainings

2. We strengthen the cooperative movement by working together with other cooperatives. 

$1,235,245 purchased from other co-ops
(Includes purchases from Co-op Partners Warehouse and other co-op vendors we pay directly, such as Peace Coffee and Equal Exchange)

$59,635 working with other co-ops (Includes NCGA, CGIN and CDS)

Worked in alignment with other Twin Cities Natural Food Co-ops to promote the Eat Local America Challenge from Aug. 15–Sept. 15  

3. We provide space and opportunities for gathering of our neighborhood communities.

In-store book signings with local authors.

A venue for live music in our seating area.We provide bulletin board and shelf space for community announcements and free community publications.
